AS THE MUSIC PLAYS

11bBa’t sila’y nag-iinumang masaya
Bakit sa lupa magulo
Ba’t sila’y nagtatawanang malakas
Tinatawanan lang tayoDi kayat isang tropa lang sila
Ang Demonyo, si San Pedro at ang Diyos

Tinatawanan lang ni Hudas
Ako’t ikaw
Tayong lahat

Balita ko’y nag-away sa inyo
Dahil ba sa penoy at balot?
Nag-debate, nag-talo kung sinong tama’t totoo
Pinag-awayan si Jawo

Sana ay mamulat ang matang bulag
Na i-isa lang naman ang Diyos

Tinatawanan lang ni Hudas
Ako’t ikaw
Tayong lahat

Sana ay mamulat ang matang bulag
Na i-isa lang naman ang Diyos

Tinatawanan lang ni Hudas
Tinatawanan lang ni Hudas
Si Satanas
At ating Diyos Ama

Pain Leads to freedom

12bIt’s everyone’s opinion not my own
Fame
Crystal kingdom
It’s everybody’s mission not my own

Not too young
Not that old
Neither bitter
Neither cold

Just an optimist
Who’s become a little cynical
Under gloom
Don’t be afraid
Love is stronger than it all
Stronger than this soul divided

All these years I never really know what love is
Til I found you… found you

This new faith where the altar is the bed
Where the church feels like a motel room
Where gold turns to lead
Hello
Do you believe
Love is stronger than us all
Stronger than two worlds colliding

I-you burn like fire from below sears the flesh feeds the souls desire…
I-you stronger than before rising through the dust like a phoenix

Bamboo redefines Light Peace Love

photo_lightpeaceloveLet another history of mainstream rock unfolds and be a part of it as BAMBOO — the rockstar band behind the phenomenally successful songs
“Noypi”, “As the Music Plays” and “Mr. Clay” — comes with another-hit-making single dubbed as “Hallelujah” from their latest album called “Light Peace Love”.

Light Peace Love, as EMI Music and the band have been called the “March-May Sessions” because it only took the band three months making it in the studio, spearheading the most awaited album of the year.

Their first single “Hallelujah”– and the only Tagalog song included in the album — again poised to heat up radio waves with its appeal to budding adults as a song love for fellowman, truth for the innocent and hope for those who dream. Hallelujah (also alleluia) has its interpretation “God be praised”, or a song or shout of praise to God. But with Bamboo, a praise mused in an alternative rock flavor have a stronger hold on teenagers and young adults which basically are the song’s main subject.

Served as their second single, “FU” is a song embedded with lyrics charged with sociopolitical messages. Very soul-ish single “Much Has Been Said”, poised as the album’s third single which scaled the charts and came in synch with a video directed by Topel Lee. The album’s fourth single is the baring “Truth”, which is now also poised to be the band’s first single to their album to be released in Asia this year.

Some tracks include a glimpse of jazz and rock but still with the Bamboo-esque flavor with added instruments to spice up the main entrée. Lyrics we always get from Bamboo rotate mainly with political content yet positive and uplifting to our innocence. The album includes ‘ Dinner at 6′, ’04’, ‘I-You’, ‘Peace Man’, ‘Alpha Beta Omega’, and ‘Children of the Sun’ complete the ideals of Light Peace Love. The album attained its gold status in July 2005 then Platinum award in January 2006.

Penning anthemic lyrics and fashioning interwoven harmonies that sparked attention with Bamboo’s first album “As the Music Plays” under EMI-PolyEast Records in February 2004, these four hard-working and hard-rocking souls namely Bamboo Manalac (vocals), Nathan Azarcon (bassist), Ira Cruz (guitars) and Vic Mercado (drums) will soon again be wowing the crowd with their sophomore album as hits flow one after another await.

Bamboo has the brand new taste for young Pinoys to anticipate after the album “As the Music Plays” which now turns to its Double Platinum record award since its release in 2003. The album and its carrier single “Noypi”, contributed successfully at the brink among the songs of the generations; bagged numerous awards; gave an unbelievably full-house performances and topped radio charts, now, witness as Bamboo set to rake in another pile of that history.

With limited studio time, the music, lyrics and the trademark silken harmonies all came quickly in the whole package of LightPeaceLove now available in your favorite record bars and leading supermalls, released by EMI Music Philippines as presented by SMART BUDDY Prepaid in cooperation with Pony “Let’s Get It On!”, Manila Bulletin, Discovery Suites, Information Gateway and SM Supermalls.

These days

ad-versaceThese days
I seem to find
A million reasons to sit around
and waste my mind
I know what’s being said and that’s all fine
You tell me to get a life
Do you understand the weight of that line?
take me for all I amCoz I can find
My own way
Big date tonight
There’s no tomorrow
So let’s leave it on the line
Coz there’s time
It’s not too late
To change direction
Turn your head son
So let’s leave it on the line

There’s something within
That’s telling me that I’m just playing it too cool
I could pretty much lose everything
I never had an apple
that tasted so… so sweet
Given the chance, the choice
Take me for all I am

Coz I can find
My own way
Big date tonight
There’s no tomorrow
So let’s leave it on the line
Coz there’s time
It’s not too late
To change direction
Turn your head son
So let’s leave it on the line

Today…
I am free
Free to fly
Free to be what they tell me I cannot be
Happy birthday to me

Coz I can find
My own way
Big date tonight
There’s no tomorrow
So let’s leave it on the line
Coz there’s time
It’s not too late
To change direction
Turn your head son
So let’s leave it on the line

Is this the light at the end?
Where the picture is clearer
the reception is warmer
Is this the light at the end?
You’re looking lot better
we’re happy too see ya
Is this the light at the end?
You got what you came for
you know where to find the door
Is this the light at the end?
Where the women are hot
but the beer’s a lot colder
Is this the light at the end?
Yo momma’s looking good
what she doing for dinner?
Is this the light at the end?
If yo momma’s busy
does she have a younger sister?
Is this the light at the end?
You got what you came for
you know where to find the door
Is this the light at the end?

You know when I woke up
To beautiful morning
Till you showed up
Nauseous I was too see you
standing there in my presence
But it was all right
Coz I’m not about to fight
When this bird wants to sing
I’ll SING

Gunpoint that suppose to scare me into submission
A slave to your will, fear, greed and ambition
But I’m not game…
I’m not game to your flame
There’s no discussion
I will fight to the end… fighter

LIGHT PEACE LOVE 01. 04

discographyI’ll move on here lying in my cozy bed
What’s next on my list too much to think about
Maybe I’m better off dead
Realize when everything’s done and said I’d given up

Goodbye friend we never really had a chance to talk
Take a breath just a minute or two
Let me try to find a reason for what you’re about to do
What are you about to do

You got our attention let’s all just settle down
So you did the unimaginable oh I hope you’re proud
Cuz it’s never gonna be the same
Cuz it’s never gonna be the same

Brother is this it was this some race to the end
Save me from myself remind me what I have to do
Cuz from time to time I seem to forget
O yes the sun will rise again
Talk to you later… friend

War of hearts and minds

index_01War of hearts and minds
Who will pay the price?
Does anybody care?
It’s not make believe
You’ve seen it on your TV screens
I’m glad you’re not hereTake my wife please
If you think it’s funny
Cut my heart out for a souvenir
Take my life please
If you think it’s worth it
I’m glad you’re not here

War of hearts and minds
7 days later
I still can’t find
Truth and peace
How will I find my way
They say love, love without fear
Is said to be the key
But just look around
No clear answer to be found
Get me out of here

Take my wife please
If you think it’s funny
Cut my heart out for a souvenir
Take my life please
If you think it’s worth it
I’m glad you’re not here

Hello… Goodbye…

13bLeave me alone
Don’t wanna be with anyoneLie awake in bed
My eyes are closed
I bet you think I’m wasted
Hit me if you think it’s
worth it

If you think I’ve crossed the line
I’ll see you somewhere
Out there

I know you think I’m crazy
Or a schizo maybe
Or a drug fiend addict

But I know what’s real
I know you faked it
Coz lies are what we have in your world
Read all the books of life
Looked at myself
Where did the years go?
They’re lost within the pages of time

If you think I’ve crossed the line
I’ll see you somewhere
Out there

Something about it makes me
Something about it takes me
Something about you makes me
High
So high

Me and my folk guitar
We’ve seen
A glimpse of the wild world
It’s beautiful, it’s crazy
A lot of people that we know
They talk about us
They say we’ve lost it
They’re too far away from Venus I say

If you think I’ve crossed the line
I’ll see you somewhere
Out there

Coz light years from now
They’ll find it somehow
Coz it’s beautiful out there

Bands on the Run

Bamboo. This band has definitely revived Pinoy rock. They became an instant hit since most of the members came from renowned bands—Bamboo Mañalac and Nathan Azarcon from Rivermaya, Ira Cruz and Vic Mercado from Passage. Their first single “Noypi,” has become the new anthem of the youth. It was followed by hits like “Mr. Clay,” “Masaya,” “As the Music Plays the Band,” and “Sunshine,” among other hits. Their latest album Light, Peace, Love may fall short compared to their debut album, but Bamboo still is the most famous rock band in the country today.

By Yael Yuzon, Contributor
Inquirer News Service Overwhelming anxiety drove me out of bed far easier than on most days, and with good reason. We were going to perform on MTV for the first time, and our shot at immortality rested on it. Although our job was merely to provide entertainment for the early birds, nervousness somehow found its way into my system.
Wake up to one good day with Bamboo
In recent years, no other band has made such an impact on the local music scene, and such an impression among today?s youth than Bamboo. The union of Bamboo Ma??c on vocals, Ira Cruz on guitar, Nathan Azarcon on bass, and Vic Mercado on drums made for a unique sound encapsulated on the album “As The Music Plays,” both a critical and commercial success.

Red sun dawn

Guns are drawn
Skull and bones
Beast of war
Father help me stop this
Rush of blood to the head
Look at you I see red
Start this game
I’ll end itBy this hate that you help the world create
I’ve been sent
Now repent
I’m the war that comes to you
The plague that follows through

All by my self
I know that I stand here alone
All your lies they feed me
I’m stronger now
Stronger now than I was before
There’s no way you can
Hurt me
Move me
Stop me

Talk too much mutherfucker hush
You had your chance to change things
Move in the direction of right
Choose to set the bar
But then you had to pick a fight
So what’s daddy done for you lately?
Brought you the throne
Like stealing candy from a baby
Line your pockets in mucho dinero
Paid in full with the blood of the people

So now you got the fires rockin
Blood and Hate
Then you got the people talking
Legacy
You will never be forgotten
Your place in history
A black mark in time
A black mark in time

All by my self
I know that I stand here alone
All your lies they feed me
I’m stronger now
Stronger now than I was before
There’s no way you can
Hurt me
Move me
Stop me

Peace and flowers
Will kill the superpower
The fall of rome is near
Can’t you hear?
It’s been written, it’s been said
The revealations I had read
The signs are here
Those days are over
Walk away from the line
For now is the time

All by my self
I know that I stand here alone
All your lies they feed me
I’m stronger now
Stronger now than I was before
There’s no way you can
Hurt me
Move me
Stop me
